1. do i have to send AT commands in hex to the serial port(usart) in order to make call or send sms

2. i have lg gsm mobile( i had sucessfuly connected it to comp and checked various at commands) which connects through data cable , so can i use a connector cable which converts serial nine pin USART port to usb ?

1. Yes you have to sent the data in HEX
2. Why do you want the serial to usb converter. Did your modem have serial connection or usb connection.

i wanted to interface my mobile which uses data cable through usb to connect to computer

but now i think it would be wiser to go for fbus using nokia as you have done a project on microcontroller

can you tell me how much does a nokia fbus cable cost that can be connected to usart

thnks for your replies !

one more thing i want to ask is that we use excel technologies kit for 8085 in our college and it have 9600 as its baud rate of uart so wont this create some problem to communicate with nokia 3310 through fbus protocal. if yes then can you suggest me another way of doing this ?

The Fbus support only the baud rate of 115200.
Check whether the kit support this baud rate.
