They are ordinary LDR's. (Light Dependent Resistors). There is no special specification for the LDR.

Can LDRs work properly using simple torchs,insted of lasers,in this project?
What is the actual purpose of 555 timer?Is it to produce a simple clock? Can't we use timer in 8255?
Also,can you explain me what actually the whole circuitry (mainly 555s circuitry) doing?
It will be really very helpful if cleared all my doubts.
Thanks

Using Laser torch is best than using a simple torch.
The timer is to generate clock pulse when the LDR is interrupted.
The components cost will be around Rs.200-300. excluding the trainer kit.

actually the surface area of LDRs being small & the laser beam also being concentrated,how can this apparatus be hold as a small disturbance of ldrs or laser may cause the difference of light falling on it hence changing its resistance?????????
also as there should be some distance between the two LDRs(supposedly 1/2 mtr)hw can this be adjusted???????????

Fix the LDR & Laser light rigidly with some glue or something.

Not 1/2 mtr accurately, but is should be approximately 0.5meter.

but hw can a circuit be kept so wide apart on pcb or breadboard?
also since 555 acts in comparator mode shouldn't it give pulse at pin no 3 when ldrs r interupted.its becoz i wasn't able to see this pulse on CRO.

You can use either a bread board or solder it on a general purpose PCB

The 555 wont give a pulse, its output will be +5v if the LDR is in dark and the o/p goes to 0v if the LDR is in light.

Which trainer kit you are using, this call function is to display the numbers on the trainer kit seven segment display. Its the inbuilt routine for VI microsystems traniner kits.

OK is for the sensor is not obstructed and NOT OK is for the sensors being obstructed.

This program can count a maximum of 255.

It is to clear the visitor count.

thanks alot for helping me so much.there r sm other problems also that im looking forward to b solved.
thanks in advance
wat r the operands in FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS
4114 MVI A ,01
4116 MVIC ,03
also my question is why all three addresses(4200,4201,4202)r used to clear the counts?
411D STA 4200 32 Clear the count
411E 00
411F 42
4120 STA 4201 32
4121 01
4122 42
4123 STA 4202 32
4124 02
4125 42

my kit is Vinytics
VMC-8506
MICROPROCESSOR TRAINING CUM-DEVELOPMENT KIT
I think for displaying data field in my kit the program should be
STA 27F6
CALL 06FA
WHERE LOCATION 27F6HAS GOT THE CONTENT'CURRENT DATA'
&ADDRESS OF ROUTINE TO MODIFY DATA IS 06FA(ALL REGISTERS AFFECTED)
(its also written in manual that if the system is under control of keyboard,it displays 8 bit number in 27F6 )
thanks alot once again

4200 has the real count of the visitors in Hexa-decimal. This HEX value is converted into Decimal and the lowest number is stored in 4201 and the highest number is stored in 4202.

For example if the count value is 0A, then
4200 = 0A
4201 = 00
4202 = 01

Go through the manual of your trainer kit for the inbuilt monitor routines to display a number on the 7-seg display.
